History & Origins
Newfoundlands were developed on the island of Newfoundland, Canada, where they worked alongside fishermen hauling nets, carrying boat lines, and rescuing people from the icy North Atlantic. Their lifesaving instincts are legendary, with many documented water rescues. Lewis and Clark brought a Newfoundland named Seaman on their expedition.
