Siberian Husky
The Siberian Husky is a striking, athletic breed with piercing blue or multicolored eyes and a thick double coat. They are bred for endurance and built to work in packs pulling sleds over vast frozen distances. Huskies are friendly, gentle, and dignified, but also mischievous and independent.
History & Origins
Siberian Huskies were developed by the Chukchi people of northeastern Siberia as endurance sled dogs over 3,000 years ago. They gained fame in 1925 during the Great Race of Mercy, when sled dog teams relayed diphtheria antitoxin 674 miles across Alaska to Nome. The AKC recognized them in 1930.
